to Schedule an Initial Consultation
An Initial Consultation helps you determine which service would be most effective for both you and your manuscript. This no cost, no obligation meeting is your opportunity to see if our editor’s personality and skills match your expectations and goals.
We are adding a scheduling app to our site, but until we have completed that process you can use this form to request a time to meet with one of our editors where we can discuss your process, plans, and goals for your manuscript. Please be sure to include your availability and desired day and time for this consultation.
to Inquire About a Free Sample Edit
Our Free Sample Edit service gives you a free 2,000-word sample of our editing services. We will look over a sample of approximately 10 pages of your work, preferably near the middle of the manuscript, and provide a detailed report and comments within the selection to help you identify if our editing style matches your preferences and standards. You can provide specific requests for this sample, such as more or less direct explanation of the suggested edits. The turnaround time for a sample is three (3) to five (5) days, and comes with a single-page report alongside a “track changes” copy of your manuscript (or commented PDF).

Please note that, due to the the nature of manuscript critiques, developmental edits, and beta readings, those services do not qualify for a free sample edit.

We get a lot of questions from writers and authors seeking our services (and some who aren’t!). We hope this list answers some of yours, but if it doesn’t, please don’t hesitate to contact us using the form above!

The length of time an edit requires depends on a variety of factors, including the editing service requested, word count, and current state of the manuscript or document. For longer projects it can take up to six (6) weeks or longer, while short-form projects could be done is as little as one (1) or two (2) weeks.
This number can be adjusted for an increase in the amount of work needed compared to a provided sample or for rush jobs, as examples.
In general, however, we try to aim for an approximately five (5) week turnaround for an 85,000-word manuscript.
